A prolific painter and long-time educator in Cleveland, David King’s recent oil paintings, constructions and cut outs focus on the unsettling emotions people experience with change. He states, “I portray these feelings by using distinct edges to create unfamiliar worlds for the individuals I paint. I place figures on new, unearthly planes, construct elaborate fractured environments, and remove and release others from their environment altogether.”

He uses images of unrelated strangers that seem both foreign and familiar in order to reimagine narratives, embracing mystery, fantasy, and humor.
