Kenn Hetzel was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1948 and moved to Maple Heights where I attended Maple Heights High School. After graduation in 1966, Hetzel began a career in retail display with Sears & Roebuck becoming a display manager for JCPenney by 1979, which lasted until Hetzel suffered an on-the-job injury forcing him to change careers. Hetzel then attended Kent State University and earned a double major in Art Education and Studio Art in 1995, a sub major sculpture in 1996, and a Masters in Sculpture in 2004. From 1998 to 2015 Hetzel oversaw the three-dimensional program at Chagrin Falls High School, Chagrin Falls, Ohio.
Over the years Hetzel’s work and approach to sculpture has evolved to the point that Hetzel does not limit himself to the use of one material, though wood and stone are his primary mediums. Hetzel’s work has been exhibited at the Mansfield Art Center, Mansfield. OH, Rosewood Art Center, Kettering.
