My work consists of oil paintings that layer reimagined natural and botanical forms to explore the numinous qualities of the natural world and a sense of intimacy within landscape. Influenced by my upbringing in Appalachia, these paintings create immersive spaces drawn from memory, lived experience, and imagination rather than specific locations.

Through color, transparency, repetition, and overlapping forms, I build compressed, atmospheric compositions shaped by light and shadow. These elements emphasize sensation such as light, temperature, and stillness over direct depiction. Leaves, flowers, plants, and celestial forms are arranged in a collage-like way, functioning as both form and rhythm. Shifts in scale, color, and layering guide the viewer through the space, evoking the sensation of being enveloped within the landscape.

Blending perception, memory, and imagination, the work moves toward the fantastical. Transparent foliage drifts across skies and intertwines with the moon, forming layered immersive environments. The viewer is held within the surface where overlapping forms and shifting light convey familiar sensations of being within the atmosphere. The landscape is experienced not as something observed from afar, but something that holds, shapes, and embodies the viewer.
